The Defenders brace themselves for full mind/body swaps courtesy of the Headmen. But the team won’t go down without a fight! Chondu’s trapped in the body of Bambi. All that and an alien abduction!
Chondu, whose mind is now in the body of a faun, tries to escape Dr. Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum and warn the Headmen of the Defenders’ plan. He recalls how the Headmen captured Nighthawk and took out his brain, leaving it in a dish, and transplanted Chondu’s brain in Nighthawk’s body.
However, Dr. Strange had defeated Chondu/Nighthawk, and used his magic to transplant the mind (but not the brain) of Jack Norriss into the body of Nighthawk, and the mind of Chondu into a faun (leaving Norriss’s body temporarily mindless). They then left to attack the Headmen. However, Ruby Thursday defeated and captured them.
Norriss/Nighthawk, however, is acting undercover among the Headmen, who think Chondu’s mind is the one in control of his body.
Meanwhile, two canoers in Central Park are suddenly grabbed by several reptilian creatures, who then fly off in a UFO.
Norriss/Nighthawk continues to try to find out what the Headmen’s plans are, and is startled to find himself the target of Ruby’s romantic advances.
Chondu/faun, full of rage, now desires revenge above all else. He breaks out, but is caught by some more of the reptilian creatures. He suddenly appears on an island with a strange machine, where other kidnapped people are also being held.
The Headmen wake up the Defenders, and they battle. Norriss/Nighthawk steals Kyle’s brain in a bowl and flies off with it. Ruby spatters the remaining Defenders with goo and the Headmen retreat.
Norriss/Nighthawk is caught by a beam from the earlier UFO, to discover that the being behind it is…Nebulon!
